Turning Back

Turning Back is a song cycle for mezzo soprano and piano by composer Scott Wheeler. It sets the poetry of H.D. (Hilda Doolittle). Turning Back was commissioned by the Boston Cecilia and Concert Artists Guild, with the generous help of Dr. Anne Guenzel, for mezzo soprano Krista River. The song cycle was premiered by River and pianist Judith Gordon at Weill Hall (New York) in January 2008. ----- The audio recording provided is used with the permission of the composer and features mezzo soprano Krista River and pianist Donald Berman.
