Being Happy

"Being Happy" sets a poem of Dana Gioia. The poem was first published in The Hudson Review in the Spring of 2003. Laitman sets the text as a "cabaret song," to enhance the text with a "breathless" quality. She purposely leaves the final chord unresolved, as the poet ends the poem with a question.
