Julie Mathilde Lippman
An author of novels and plays as well as a political activist in the women's suffrage movement, Julie Mathilde Lippman is most famous for her 1914 novel Martha By-The-Day, which was adapted into a play in 1919.

About
Lippman was well known during her lifetime and became friends with other important American writers such as Louisa May Alcott and Mark Twain.
She wrote several novels and plays during her lifetime. In addition to her work in the women’s suffrage movement, Lippman also wrote propaganda during the First World War for the Allied cause and was a staunch supporter of Theodore Roosevelt.
She lived most of her life in New York City, but moved to Cincinnati at the end of her life.
The spelling of her last name (whether it has one or two “n”s) is still unclear.
