About

Nina Evans is a young poet who is best known for her poem “Surviving the Apocalypse.” The poem was a part of the 202 Rattle Young Poets Anthology, and was penned by Evans when she was only fifteen years old. “Surviving the Apocalypse” touches on topics of school shootings, family, and climate change.

In 2022, Evans’ poem was set to music by composer Andre Myers. The piece has been performed by soprano Jamie Reimer, baritone Byron Jones and pianist Stacie Haneline as part of the 25th Anniversary African American Art Song Alliance Conference.
