Robert Browning

English poet Robert Browning, husband of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, made important contributions to poetry though his innovative use of diction, rhythm, and symbol, developed through the dramatic monologue form. American composers who have set his works include Amy March Beach, Jean Berger, Sidney Homer, Charles Ives, Lori Laitman, William Harold Neidlinger, and Ned Rorem.
